Looks like I've been "tagged". Wow. What a fluke, I just happened to check my neglected page and boom I need to respond right here and now:
The rules are, once you've been tagged, you have to write a blog with "six weird facts/things/habits about yourself." Finish by choosing six people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says "you are tagged" in their comments and tell them to read your blog. C'mon, it'll be fun...
Okay, here goes...six wierd facts/things/habits about myself...
1. I don't like to be a passenger in someone else's car. I get carsick super easily.
2. I bought my microwave when I was single...about 23 years ago and it still works.
3. I rarely watch television and don't have cable.
4. Lately I am addicted to electronic yahtzee and my highest score is 571.
5. I'm an old Joni Mitchell fan.
6. I really love history--any time, any place.

I went to see my physician whom I have known for about 15 years. She moved her practice out to a suburban area not too far away, and I had not been to her new place until this morning. New partners, new office, new staff, new stationary, new wallpaper, new bathrooms, new everthing! And you know when all the familiarities change...it can be good, but, well, it's just different..
I was so pleased when I walked up to the desk and the new receptionist smiled, then kind of laughed, like I was this old buddy who she was waiting to see. Then she kind of sheepishly said, "Oh I'm sorry." (Like she had to apologize to me for being informal, I don't think so!) She continued to tell me, "I'm so excited because I just hung up the phone with my 88 year old penpal who lives in Texas. She used to be a patient and dwhen she moved away we just started writing to each other. Well, her grandson is in the army and is stationed in Afghanistan. She had written a few weeks ago to tell me that he was terribly homesick. I wrote her back to offer to send him a package of goodies and she sent me his address right away. So I mailed him a big package of magazines, frisbees, gum baseballs and a ton of candy. She was calling to tell me that he had recieved the package!! Isn't that exciting??!!"
I was excited-- about how you can get caught up in someone's good news--just like it's your own!
If I had been five minutes earlier or later someone else may have gotten the whole story---but who cares! I was in the right place at the right time.
What a difference someone who "never meets a stranger" can make!
Please Allow Me To Introduce Myself
Greetings everyone at Mindsay from Lake Michigan!
I feel lucky to live just three blocks from said shores and when I finally figure out how to use the digital camera I recently purchased I will post some photos of the lake to share.
Speaking of sharing, I just want you to know that this whole Mick thing my sister's got going is quite contagious. As far as I can remember, it all began when I was in the 7th grade. I asked Misshap, who was in the 9th grade, to teach me how to dance. She put on her Brown Sugar 45 and taught me the Pony.
After years of nudging me to go to a Stones concert with her and the rest of my Stones-addicted siblings (yes there are more of us!) I finally went to Soldier Field last September and was caught by the Mick hook. Now, Misshap and I have one more thing to add to our long list of things that soul sisters have in common--after all we all need someone we can lean on!
Hey--I'm really looking forward to online friends!
